ONE HAND INITIATIVE

Welcome to

ONE HAND INITIATIVE

Educating girls in Kenya empowers girls to break free from poverty and gender inequality. An education equips girls to thrive, contribute to their communities, and build a brighter future for themselves, their families, and society at large.

Uplifting Lives

Mildred, who placed first in her Form 3 (11th grade) class, was sexually assaulted during the pandemic. She became pregnant and had her baby, living in Nairobi’s largest slum. One Hand Initiative (OHI) picked her up and Mildred was able to finish High School. In 2024, she completed her first year of university.

This is love on its feet.”

– Christine Musimbi Vulimu, “Auntie Joy”
Visionary, One Hand Initiative (OHI)

Christine’s desire to educate girls led her to Dorcas.

After studying Fashion and Design and graduating in 2023, Dorcas returned to school to become a teacher of sewing at School of IVET and Technical Education in 2024.

Inspiring Hope

Christine gives motivational talks to girls to encourage them in their studies. She is much loved!

Education Changes Everything

Angeline went to school for months, begging the school to let her back into school. Her father had died, and her mother was suffering from a mental illness. They had no money. She was a good student.
